2024 Field Trips
Please stay tuned as we are gearing up for the 2024 Season!

Every year our Field Trip Coordinator arranges a variety of field trips for all members in the club with some open to guests.

Members of the club are welcome to and encouraged to arrange any additional field trips. These field trips are arranged at the member's discretion and may be anything from a car full of folks carpooling to a nursery to an opportunity that is open to the public.

Lynda Steele, Field Trip Coordinator

Thursday, May 16th  2024

We have a morning trip planned to two highly recommended nurseries in Newland and a Barbecue lunch. Our morning will start with everyone meeting at the American Legion for a 9:30 AM departure to Newland.

Field Trip Schedule:

9:30 AM Departure from American Legion to  Vaughn Blue Ridge Nursery (726 Old Jonas Rd. Newland) arriving 10 AM ish. Check out the nursery and depart at 10:30 AM ish to Riverdale Nursery (72 Braswell Rd, Newland) and shop for new garden flowers.

We will leave Riverdale Nursery around 11:00 AM and head for Old Hampton Store for a spectacular Barbecue lunch together. If you haven’t been to the Old Hampton Store for barbecue before, you are in for a treat. The plan is to enjoy the food and each other’s company before departure at 12:30 PM. Most of us should be returning to the American Legion in Blowing Rock at 1:00 PM. Some of you may want to stay longer for the live music.
