Garden Club member, Randy Ouzts, is a floral designer and greenhouse grower who markets orchids, ferns, begonia, and other house plants. He will speak to us about “Maximizing our Indoor Gardens” and will discuss growing conditions, and water and fertilizer needs for our favorite in-house beauties.

Bob Barham, husband of member Charlene Barham, has graciously offered for us to tour his garden at 1882 Main Street following the meeting. The Barham’s terraced Dahlia beds were featured in Our State Magazine, The meeting in the American Legion Building will be about successfully growing Dahlias.

2023 NC Year of the Trail: Trails as Plant Corridors for People and Wildlife

Our September 6th meeting will be held at the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum at 11 a.m. and will be open to the public.  In North Carolina, 2023 has been declared as “The Year of the Trail.”  In keeping with this statewide initiative, we will have three knowledgeable women speaking on the topic.  Wendy Patoprsty, the extension agent for Natural Resources and Environmental Education in Watauga County, will speak, as well as two others, one from the Piedmont Land Conservancy and one from the Blue Ridge Conservancy.  After the speakers, we will have a business meeting at BRAHM.  

October 4, 2023

Fellowship begins at 10:30 a.m.

  For our last meeting, we will share a pot-luck luncheon at the American Legion Building starting at 11:00 with the installation of officers for the 2024 year.
